When 85-year-old John was diagnosed with a heart condition, his doctors told him that he only had a few months to live. But John refused to give up hope and decided to try out an Apple Watch. The watch’s sensors helped monitor John’s heart rate and activity, which helped the doctors better understand his condition and provide him with better care. Thanks to the watch, John is now living a full life and enjoying every minute of it. ..

According to an Instagram post from the Ottawa Police Department, which AppleInsider first spotted, a man took a nasty fall that knocked him unconscious and left him with a head wound. The Apple Watch detected the fall and called 911 for him, which ultimately saved his life.

Police arrived on the scene and bandaged the man’s wounds before paramedics arrived to take the fall victim to the hospital. It appears that the man will make a full recovery from his injuries.

It was always clear that fall detection on the Apple Watch would save lives at some point, and it’s reassuring to hear that the feature did exactly what it’s designed to do, keeping an older man alive when he may not have been able to reach out to emergency services on his own.

This isn’t the first time the Apple Watch has saved a life, with some users claiming the heart rate features saved them from a heart attack. Hopefully, it won’t be the last. If you have an Apple Watch, make sure to turn on features like fall detection, as they just might save your life.
