Apple has just released the Series 7 of its Apple Watch, and as part of the update, it includes a full keyboard on your wrist. This is a big step forward for those who want to use their Apple Watch as a regular computer. The new keyboard is designed for use with the Series 7 watch, but it can also be used with other Apple products such as the iPhone and iPad. It has a backlight that makes it easy to read in dark environments, and it also includes an on-screen keyboard that you can use to type in commands or text. The new keyboard is available now for $129.99, and you can order it online or at participating Apple stores.

There’s a lot to like about the Apple Watch Series 7, announced on September 14, 2021, but the Retina display that adds 20% more screen real-estate compared to the Apple Watch Series 6 is a standout feature. However, the Watch is about the same size. Rather than making the Watch 20% larger, Apple moved the Watch’s display out towards its edges. The corners are rounded, too.

Apple also says it’s adjusted the interface so that you can fit nearly 50% more text on the Watch’s screen. There are bigger buttons for the bigger display, too.

Thanks to the bigger screen and all those optimizations, Apple is finally able to fit a full keyboard onto your wrist. You can tap the individual letters to type or swipe-to-type thanks to the QuickPath feature, which makes its way from iPhone and iPad to the Watch. Just drag your finger from letter to letter and watchOS will guess the word you’re trying to type. You don’t have to scribble individual letters on your wrist or hope Siri can interpret what you say properly.

That’s not the only new feature, of course. Apple says the Watch can charge around 33% faster, and you can get enough juice to track eight hours of sleep with just eight minutes of charging. The new Watch will be up to 70% brighter when your wrist is down, too.

The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399 and will be available sometime later in fall 2021.
