Ten-year-old Alexa Challenged her friends and family to electrocute her as a way to raise awareness and funds for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The challenge quickly went viral, with people from all over the world pledging to donate money or take part in the challenge themselves. “I wanted to do something that would make a difference,” Alexa said. “And I think this is a really important cause.” So far, Alexa has raised more than $10,000 for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. She’s also inspired other kids to take on similar challenges, and she’s hoping that by raising awareness about suicide, she can help save someone’s life. ..

Thankfully, the young girl was smart enough to know this was a terrible idea, and she didn’t perform the challenge as instructed by Alexa.

Let this serve as a reminder that smart speakers and displays are gateways to the internet, and the information contained within them isn’t always curated by the companies that make them. As such, it’s smart to supervise your children while they use them. In the best-case scenario, they may get incorrect information. In the worst-case, they may end up being asked to electrocute themselves.
